As we prepare ourselves for the High Holidays, we would like to bring to your attention the following opinion which is common practice in the Torah world.

The Chofetz Chaim zt”l writes in Mishne Brura 584:8: “It is most appropriate for every ….individual to make an effort to get an Aliyah on the High Holidays. Even ….when these mitzvos are sold, one should buy them in accordance with his means. A mitzvah that is attained through expenditure is of greater value than a mitzvah attained for free.” 

Therefore, we would like to extend to you the opportunity to participate in our High Holiday mitzvos and receive HaShem’s munificent blessing in repayment of your efforts.

We are holding a ‘silent auction’ for all Aliyos on 1^st & 2^nd day Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur (see list below). Please submit your ‘bid’ ($180 minimum for all Aliyahs, $100 minimum for Hagbah, $36 minimum for Gelilah). Bids will be accepted as they are received by email (menucha@aishla.com) or voicemail (310-278-8672x305).  The deadline for the auction for Rosh Hashana Aliyos will be 10:00 am Sept. 4. The deadline for the auction for Yom Kippur Aliyos will be 10:00 am Sept 13.

It is with great sadness that we inform the community of the passing of Mrs. Kim Lupsha, Sara bas Reuven Yitzchok a"h, beloved sister of Scott Richards.

LEVAYA
Levaya took place in Northern California on Friday morning, August 9.

SHIVA
Will be at the Richards' home, 8823 Horner St., Starting tomorrow morning, 8/12, though Wednesday night 8/14.  He will be getting up very early Thursday morning after the 5:45 am shachis at Anshe.

Hours: 10:00am-1:00pm, 2:00pm-5:00pm, & 8:30-10:00pm

MINYANIM
Will be at Anshe Emes.  There will not be minyanim at the house.

Correction of time for shachris for the shiva minyan at the Horowitz home

There will be a shachris minyan tomorrow, Thursday August 8th at 6 AM at the Horowitz home at 1144 S. Beverwil Drive held for a cousin of the Horowitz family who came for the levaya of his mother and is on his way back to Eretz Yisroel.

The 6:00 a.m. minyan that normally meets at the Aish Center on Thursday will be relocating to the beis ovel  only for shachris and will not be in the shul.

Parking: You can park a few houses north of the Horowitz home even though it is considered Beverly Hills.  

A cousin of the Horowitz family, Yehoshua Kahn just landed from Eretz Yisroel for the leviya of his mother.

It is today, Wednesday at 2:00 at Hillside. He does not know if he will have a minyan. If you can help him it would be greatly appreciated. He can be reached at the Horowitz residence 310 2778466 until 1:00 pm.

There will be a shiva minyan at the Horowitz house for mincha today at 7:40 pm and for shachris tomorrow at 7:30 am only

Please make every attempt to be there and help for this most important chesed.
