Eruv might not be up... Please check
Important message about the Los Angeles Eruv:
We wanted to alert the community that there is some possibility that the eruv will not be up for this upcoming Shabbos Jan 31, 2014.
There are a number of poles and connecting points being moved in the construction zone along the 405 tonight and tomorrow. We are working closely with the contractors to keep our boundary functional throughout the move, but there is some possibility that we will not be reestablished before Shabbos starts.
Please monitor the website and email through the afternoon for updates.

Important Shabbos information and more
Dear Community,
Please note that there will be no Avos U’banim this week (due to the Ohr Eliyahu raffle) or next week (due to winter vacation).
We will resume on Motzei Shabbos, February 1 with our grand prize week.

Tzedaka Urgently Needed!
Dear Community,
As we do every year at this time, we are now collecting funds to help pay for the apartment of a woman in the Pico community who is unable to do so herself. Without our support and the support of the other shuls who also contribute to this cause, this person would surely be living on the street.
If we don't raise enough money to cover her rent for the coming year, she will be back on the street in our midst -- sleeping on benches and in our doorways in all kinds of weather as she used to do before we found her this apartment. Should that happen, the chances of finding another landlord who will rent to her and at the very under market price we are now paying will be next to impossible. It is so much better for her and for the peace of mind of all of us to know that she has ongoing adequate shelter. Please help as best you can and be part of this mitzvah.
Those of you who would like a part in this mitzvah should make a check out to Marbei Tzeddakah and send it directly to Holly Magady at 1515 Glenville Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90035.
For your information, Marbei Tzeddakah operates under the umbrella of Tomchei Shabbos. The rent will be paid by them directly to the landlord.
