The great Torah luminary R. Chaim Ozer Grodzinski (1863 – 1940) the Rav of Vilna, once visited the city of
“Please forgive me Rebbe, but I am just about to light Chanuka licht”
“Please continue…” replied R. Chaim Ozer
He stood and watched as the tailor went and changed from his work clothes into his Shabbos clothes. Then he went and washed his hands. Finally he lit with great simcha and yiras shomayim (reverence of HaShem)
R. Chaim Ozer was greatly impressed
“If this is how the tailors of Crakow live, now I understand why it produced such great Torah scholars!”

HALACHA OF THE WEEK
Ask all your Jewish-related questions to Rabbi Cohen at asktherabbi@aishla.com. All questions will be answered and a few will be published in the bulletin each week. Raffle to be held after four weeks of published questions.
Q: Can I buy non-kosher candy to give to my non-Jewish work colleagues?
A: There are many poskim who are stringent about this because it may fall into the category of doing business with non-kosher products. It is best to give your colleagues kosher products, but you may give them non-kosher products that someone else gave to you. (*You should also not give it to them on Xmas day).
Q: Can I use my maaser money for the tzedaka that I give after saying Yizkor?
A: There is no problem using maaser kesafim for tzedaka. However, it is best not to make a neder for Yizkor since the status of a pledge might be a debt, and there is a question whether one can use maaser kesafim to pay a debt.
*If you think any of these cases apply to you, please make sure to ask your own question because your particular details may render a different answer.
