2nd Yarzheit of HaRav Noach Weinberg, zt”l

The second yarzheit of Rabbi Noach Weinberg zt”l begins this Saturday night at sundown, 11 Shevat.  The Motzei Shabbos commemorative New York gathering featuring Rabbis Motti Berger, Yaakov Solomon and Yerachmiel Milstein will be videoed and the link will be available next week.  Currently Aish.com is hosting many tribute articles and videos.

May the Rosh Yeshiva be remembered for a blessing and may we continue his work and take it to new heights.

Beshallach – A lucky break

Rav Chaim Soloveitchik (the Brisker Rav) once made a seudas mitzva in his house. The table was set with his finest glass and china in honor of the occasion. One of the participants got up from the table, and accidentally pulled the tablecloth with him as he got up. The tablecloth fell to the floor and with it all its expensive and delicate contents. Everyone was horrified, but Rav Chaim remained calm and told people not to worry as he was absolutely sure that nothing had broken. Indeed when they inspected the wreckage they found that every single piece was intact and nothing had been damaged. Rav Chaim quickly explained that he was neither a navi nor a miracle worker. He only knew a kabala that he had from Rav Chaim Volozhin. Rav Chaim Volozhin had said that no harm will ever come to something bought from money earned honestly and fairly. Rav Chaim Brisker then stated that since all his money was earned fairly he was sure that nothing could have broken!!

Good Shabbos,

Rabbi Cohen

Saul Blinkoff’s “Dose of InspirAISHon” from two weeks ago:

Even a brief encounter has the potential to inspire others through the power of sincerity. When I first started out in animation for The Walt Disney Company I  was mentored by one of the greatest animators who ever lived, Glen Keane. I particularly admired how Glen's characters were so real and emotionally engaging.  Glen shared his secret with me: "Be sincere in your work and your audience will be emotionally engaged."  Our work is engaging people towards Hashem and His Torah. People are drawn to what is real; we can truly make a difference by simply being sincere.

Michele Mazouz “Dose of InspirAISHon” from last week:

G-d loves every one of us tremendously, but as a loving parent, G-d wants us to get closer to Him and reach our potential. To help us, He sometimes sends us challenges to bring out the best in us.

I was once driving and running low on gas, so my gas light indicator went on. While I was driving in a sunny area, I didn’t notice it, but when I came to a darker area, I saw the light. That’s when I understood that sometimes Hashem has to send some “shadows” in our lives in order to reveal our inner “light”.
