Important Chanukah Annoucements

Dear Community,

-Class canceled due to Chanukah. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Braverman’s series on “Everything BT parents wanted to know about raising FFB kids, but were afraid to ask.” is cancelled this week due to Chanukah.  It will resume next Wednesday evening, December 28th at 8 p.m.  Please check the Shabbos bulletin for further details.

-For Community Children: Join us on Sunday morning (12/25) as we decorate, bake, and package Chanukah cookies. Then join us on Monday (12/26) as we deliver these cookies to an old age home and spread the Chanukah cheer! Exact times to be announced.

We are also looking for a few parent volunteers who can accompany the children on Monday and drive to and from the old age home. If you are available, please contact Menucha@aishla.com or 310-278-8672 ext 305.

-No guilt just gelt:

Chanukah is a time in the Jewish year when the custom arose to give gelt (money) to our children. There is a great deal of speculation as to why we do that but one reason undoubtedly was to commemorate our independence from Greek oppression and and show our gratitude to HaShem that the beis Hamikdash was back in our hands.

Today we may no longer have the Beis HaMikdash, but we have a mikdash me’at – our shul and our community. Any gelt that you are able to donate to our community is extremely helpful to us to defray our costs that seem to spiral daily like a dreidel and is helpful to you as a tax deductible write off this year and a deferred credit in olom ha’emes!

A lichtige (light filled) Chanukah to all

For more info, contact Menucha@aishla.com or 310-278-8672 ext 305.

Thank you!
